Introduction
This won't be an extensive history of YTP as a genre, since I wasn't a part of the community or around during its inception. (I mean, I was alive, I just wasn't on the internet yet.) But some of the oldest videos I remember watching on YouTube were YTP's. (also, be advised that some of the internet humor in these videos are pretty dated.)
With the advancement of technology, home computers, and editing software in the early 2000's, it was inevitable that we would get such a wonderful expression of the animalistic tendency to be a shithead in the form of the YouTube Poop.
YouTube Poops, despite still being made today, are a relic of an internet long past. The first "real" youtube poop to ever be made is often cited as "I'D SAY HE'S HOT ON OUR TAIL" (featured above) and of course it's Mario related. At one point, Hotel Mario / Zelda CDi, King of the Hill and the animated Super Mario Bros. Super Show held the monopoly on poops that I watched, though I never saw this one. Or maybe I did, and I just forgot. Either way, I would consider it the be historically important (if it really is the first YTP) and that's about it.
Anyways, YTP's have shaped my humor quite a bit. They were some of my first introductions to this sort of random, absurdist, janky humor that's pretty prolific nowadays and influenced a good chunk of my generation. Consider this a fan page of some of my favorite Poops and YouTube Poopers.
